7/1/08: Show up soon:
Hey all,
Didn't forget about you. We had a power outage last night on our street due to a
tree coming down on a power line. I am an hour and 46 minutes into the editing
and it will be up in a couple of hours.
Sorry for the delay. I would have posted some info if I could.

6/30/08: Some Quick Updates and thoughts:
I wanted to first say that Michael Turner passed away while we were in Chicago. Not only was he a fantastic artist but he was always are truly nice creator at any con I have seen him at. He always drew long lines and always had a smile on his face. I remember meeting him in Pittsburgh and he really seemed genuinely interested in chatting with fans. I will always remember that enthusiasm and kindness when connecting with fans because it is was keeps me loving this industry. He will be missed greatly.
I had the chance to participate in the podcasting
panel from Chicago. Chris from Around Comics posted it so I wanted to pass this
on. It was a ton of fun and it was great that Wizard supported us like this.
"Around Comics is back with a special presentation from Wizard World Chicago.
Listen to the first Comic Book Podcasting Panel hosted at Wizard's Chicago show.
The panel was moderated by Eisner Award winning writer Sean McKeever, and
included Brian Salazar of Around Comics, Vince Bonavoglia of 11 O'Clock Comics,
Scott Cederlund of Wednesday's Haul, John Siuntres of Wordballoon, Stevie D. of
Comic Book Queers, Steven Schuler of Alter Ego, Chris Marshall of Collected
Comics Library and Sean Whelan of Raging Bullets. If you weren't able to attend
the convention or the panel, here's your chance to hear what eight of comics
podcasting's finest have to say about the medium.
We'll be back again next week with an all new Around Comics, but in the meantime

6/29/08: DC Release Dates Updated and Episode 122 Update:
Hey Everyone, It's Saturday about 12:45 AM Chicago Time. We just got home from the Batman Gotham Knight premiere and panel. I wanted to update you on this week's show. I had this grand plan of releasing on Sunday night. I have about an hour and a half of content so far from Chicago. (Jim and I stayed up till 1 am Friday night recording) We will finish tomorrow morning before we check out of the hotel and go back to the con. While I will have the show recorded, I don't return home till 11 or 12 at night on Sunday. I was hoping to edit here but it just isn't possible. I'll release the show Monday night. Jim is currently sleeping and I am not sure if his Final Crisis 2 notes are done. I am halfway done with mine (lots to discuss). The content looks like this so far. Episode 122 : DC nation reactions from Friday, Bendis / Johns Panel reactions from Friday. For the rest of that episode, it will either be Final Crisis #2 or DC Crisis Panel from Saturday. (Depending on how well we can prepare in time to record for Final Crisis. As neither Jim or I want to "phone in" a comic discussion.) Also a possibility is a discussion on the Batman Gotham Knight Panel and movie. (We'll keep that as spoiler free as possible. We might mention something from the dvd if it makes sense of a comment from one of the creators but it will be a vague reference that will not spoil the film.) I am shooting for a 2 1/2 hour show or so. Any content we can't record for this episode will be a part of the next episode. We will be mixing in a whole bunch of DC news reactions with comic content over the next few. I am not trying to be vague on this week's show. I'm giving a status update while Jim snores. I figured you guys would like a rough picture on what this week looks like with us being out of town all weekend. Sean

6/22/08: (REVISED) With Wizard
World Chicago next weekend, I had to take a look at releases for this week. I am
making some slight changes based on our recording schedule. It's been a crazy
week for me. I am currently having a weird condition with my left eye. It's
supposedly triggered by my blepharitis, basically I can see out of it but
everything is blurry. Should make reading show notes as interesting as it was
typing them, lol. Below is a rough outline.
Episode 121 Sunday Night : Top Bullets May's books (July cover date), BOP 118
and Teen Titans 59 (I am going to try and release this Thursday or Friday from
the con. I will post if that is an issue. We will also be discussion news that
friend of the show Scott sent us straight from the Heroes Con DC Nation Panel,
we have a couple of audio comments and a special interview from Australia with
artist of Birds of Prey and the upcoming Secret Six, Nicola Scott sent to us by
Lord Shaper of Kryptographik and the Doktor Sleepless Podcast on the readerfeed.
Episode 122: Final Crisis 2 (Sunday Night) Wizard World Content, Starman :
Wicked Inclination part 1 of 2 with Joseph Luciano
Episode 123: Trinity 1-4, Wicked Inclination Part 2 of 2, more from Wizard World
Episode 124: Seven Soldiers Volume 2 (Reminder that Uncle Sam and the Freedom
Fighters is our next BOTM pick.)
This is tentative but I don't see why things won't be pretty close to this plan
of attack, lol. If I can release any Wizard World stuff sooner from the con, I
will. We'll see.
The Art Lyon Smallville show needs to be rescheduled but we'll definitely get
this on as a bonus feature. Art is having some technical difficulties on his
end. We'll update as soon as it is on the schedule. We'll release it as a bonus
show.

6/15/08: Episode 120 will be up tomorrow afternoon due to Father's Day.
Hey Everyone,
I am posting this real quick. Due to celebrating Father's Day, I need to delay
the show a few hours. It will be up Monday afternoon instead of my usual Sunday
night (well technically Monday at 4 or 5 am release is what I usually do.). I
would have announced this on last week's show but totally forgot that it would
be a Father's Day release.
The show content is:
JLA 21 , Listener emails, Final Crisis #1 . The show clocks in at 3 hours
unedited.
Thanks for your patience and Happy Father's Day. We're spending the evening with
my Father and my brother's family.

6/8/08: Episode 119 will be up Monday Night:
Hey Everyone,
I am delaying Episode 119 till tomorrow night for a few reasons.
This weekend, my wife and I have been spending some much needed time together.
We both just got on break and we kinda took a mini vacation together at home,
lol. Honestly, we just needed some time to relax, enjoy the yard, watch some
movies and kinda escape everything for a bit. Basically some recharge time.
I have well over 3 hours (some of that will be shaved off though through
editing) of recording that we did with Freddie E. Williams II on the Flash, some
side tangets, and a great segment that we rerecorded today on a day in the life
of a comic artist. We take this really cool look at what his average day looks
like and how it leads into his monthly cycle of completing a title.
There's a bit of editing to do on this one, as we redid a few bits here and
there during the original recording and expanded a portion today. I am very
pleased with the conversation and think it will make a killer episode.
Seeing as I released 118 B Friday, I am going to spend the day tomorrow editing
119. Trust me, the extra night will be worth it. This one is good.
Thanks for your patience,
Sean
P.S. Next Sunday's show will be 120. We changed it up a bit. It'll be Final
Crisis 1, JLA 21, BOP 118 (Dark Side Club) and between the segments, listener
emails and forum comments. Should be a meaty Final Crisis focused offering.
6/7/08: Episode 118 B is up: (SHOW LINKS HERE)

6/6/08: Episode 118 B delayed till Friday
Hey everyone,
It's 1 am now. Jim and I finished recording with Freddie Williams II at about
11:30. He was incredibly generous with his time and we had a great discussion
about Flash 240, his art process, Grodd, his upcoming How to book, and much much
more. (Basically 2 1/2 hours.)
This will be released Sunday as Episode 119. I need one more day with the second
part of the Legion recording so I will have it up tomorrow. (Hopefully in the
late afternoon).
Next Thursday will be Episode 120 (We're doing a separate recording so no part a
and and will feature JLA 21 and Final Crisis 1
Next Sunday will be our Smallville Show (Episode 121) and more possible content.

LEGENDARY MAD MAGAZINE ARTIST WILL ELDER PASSES AWAY AT 86
**********
William “Will” Elder, the successful cartoonist and commercial illustrator whose
work helped launch MAD Magazine, died Thursday morning, May 15, 2008. He was 86.
Born Wolf William Eisenberg in the Bronx, New York, Elder changed his name after
returning from World War II. During his time of service, Elder was part of the
map-making team that was instrumental in the invasion of Normandy.
When Harvey Kurtzman launched MAD Magazine in 1952, he hired Elder along with
Wally Wood, John Severin, and Jack Davis to produce content for the first
issues.
“Willie Elder was one of the funniest artists to ever work for MAD. He created
visual feasts with dozens of background gags layered into every MAD story he
illustrated,” says John Ficarra, Editor of MAD Magazine, “He called these gags
“chicken fat.” Willie’s “anything goes” art style set the tone for the entire
magazine and created a look that endures to this day.”
“Willie’s passing saddens all of us here at MAD,” says Sam Viviano, MAD Magazine
Art Director, “Everyone who has attempted to draw a funny picture over the
course of the last fifty or sixty years owes an enormous debt to Willie, who
taught us all how to do it – and no one has ever done it better than he did.”

5/12/08: Ok, Jim and I have gone
back to being a weekly show and are trying to get slightly ahead (by one
episode) to give a little editing buffer. LOL, mainly because this past Sunday
wound up being 10 hours for me between recording and editing. Plus we love being
weekly again and have a few ideas on some things we want to play around with now
that we are past Countdown.
Episode 116: This is something we are trying to get in once a month. Jim and
Sean each pick two books to delve into Raging Bullets style (Titles to be
announced by Thursday). We are doing this to add some variety to our indepth
coverage. Basically 4 different titles get our indepth treatment. It's a Raging

tackle topics with now.
